DescriptionMy biggest addition for 2023 (so far??)! The X-Men animated series got me into reading comics, but Spiderman and his Amazing Friends first introduced me to Marvel's superheroes. I can still recall the sound effects of Ice Man and Firestar's transformations.I've lovingly seen this cover posted for a little while, and I figured now or never to get a BWS Marvel cover with a Mutant and X-men (...and Avenger and New Warrior :-p) on it. Especially one with childhood nostalgia. I actually read the mini several years after it was released. It was better than I expected. Given the story's context, this cover image, for me, is the moment Firestar finally accepts herself for who she is as a mutant and a woman. The mini also cemented the White Queen as a heinous witch! Let's have a moment of silence for poor Butter Rum. Social/Sharing |

Premium piece by one of the premiere artists of our time! A coming out party for Firestar who became an amazing friend to us on Saturday mornings. Ms. Lion would wake up early to look up at this scene.

Like DaRickster says up above, ALL the 1980's mini-series were fun. It was just a great format to try out different ideas and characters in their own series. As a big fan of Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, I loved seeing Marvel introduce this character into the Marvel Universe proper and getting the artistic fire power they did to draw the covers was an amazing coup. Congratulations on acquiring such a classic 80's gem!

In my Alicia Keyes voice...."James S is on fireeeee!" I enjoyed those 80s cartoons with Firestar. Congrats on adding a BWS.

Every time I see a BWS page I marvel at how he does so much with so little. Lesser artists would need a ton more lines to convey scene and power, but with so few, BWS shows us a beautiful heroine and her dynamic movement and energy.
Amazing pickup, James!

A -SUPERB- pick up, James! This is most likely true for all who saw it, but this BWS Firestar cover has been burned/microwaved into my brain since 1986! What an amazing score! A lovely example of BWS's fluid style and compositional muscle - I can't imagine how thrilling it must be to own a BWS cover. Sincere congrats, James - this is fantastic!

Absolutely stunning Barry Windsor-Smith cover! There's something about BWS's work that always seems to elevate the character he's drawing. Firestar was a minor character, but here she looks like a superstar! Fabulous layout, and beautiful inking!

Right there with you on Spidey and his Amazing Friends! One of THE cartoons of my youth :) So that immediately pops into my head when seeing her in the comics. Marry that uber nostalgia with BWS OA cover lines?! Done and done! And I love me my 80s Marvel limited series :) Congrats, man!

When I think of Marvel covers created by BWS, this is usually the first one that comes to mind. Beautiful!

Ha! At first glance I thought it was tritled "Firestarter", and I had to look to see if it reesemebled Drew Barry more from the Stephen King movie.
Maybe I just need new glasses. :)

Amazing BWS Firestar cover. I've never seen this mini-series. I like the original coloring the best.
