DescriptionThis is the May. Day 10. Thirty-One days of Star Wars continues...An attempt on his life leaves Vader and a handful of loyal troops trapped on a desolate world. Despite the deadly perils posed by the environment and attacks from his mysterious enemy, Vader will not veer from his duty. Here on the final page of issue 4, Vader has been ambushed and stunned, his helmet removed and replaced with a basic oxygen mask, and tied to a support post with some kind of spacey glowing version of Wonder Woman's rope. As his captor finishes a "I have you now" speech and exits, a phantom image of a pregnant Padmé enters the room. How will Vader complete his task? But what if the reason for his mission is negated? And what do these visions of Padmé mean to Vader's future? Much thanks to Mr. Leonardi for letting this one go. Social/Sharing |

Leonardi then would pencil every page (like my Yoda and Jango Fett)

Easily one of my favorite series of the Dark Horse era, which is saying something since I think the quality of Dark Horse's Star Wars output was exceptionally good. Leonardi did a wonderful job capturing the emotions of a maskless Vader dealing with the vision of his late wife, and this powerful page leads into a final issue that contains some of my favorite Vader moments. This is a phenomenal pickup.

Rick Leonardi did Star Wars comics? Wow, that's wicked cool, man! Looks like a great scene, too!

Man, poignant stuff! Love the panels up top - as the captor leaves, Padme enters. Definitely makes you want to see what happens next! Sweet last page cliffhanger, Jeff. Congrats!
