Description
When this one came up at auction, I knew I had to have it. I have always loved that mischievous imp from the 5th Dimension. And of course, the Joker is always amusing in a sociopathic way.

And to have them together, exchanging witty repartee as they plot and scheme over a chess board where the game pieces are all heroes ... well, blow me down, and sign me up!!

I wish the word balloons were on the art, but here is the fun verbal exchange between the two

Joker: "Ha! Ha! Ha! Don't get your 5th dimensional panties all bunched up, you delectable little imp! Play me as long as you want and you're still going to LOSE, Mr. Mxyer--Mr. Mixeler -- oh hell, MXY BABY!"

Mxyzptlk: "Believe you me, Clown Boy. Now that all the pieces are in place -- THE REAL GAME BEGINS!"

Good looking page, and I like how they both share a love of purple!

Both of them angling to be the all time classic arch villains for their respective good guys.  Just like the ending of the first X-Men movie of two old friends playing a game of chess, only these two are fully aligned.

HA! This is great, Paul!  This page was the "button" to the issue's story of all kinds of crazy "versions" of heroes and villains being thrown around, and was a riff on the game of HeroClix (which I was -completely- obsessed by at the time :) ). I remember hitting this page and laughing out loud because we rabid 'Clix players had scored some representation! :) lol  Great memories of a fun issue (and great game), and McGuinness knocks this one out of the park with the personality and charm of the characters.  Awesome pick up, Paul - congrats!

Such a fun piece, dude!  I mean these are 2 diabolical dudes that ALSO have a good time - you can see it in those expressions!  It's all a game to these guys...and they're literally playing a game!  Congrats, man!
