Karate Kid vs.
Doomsday by
Ethan Young and
Simon Gough
I have been a fan of Ethan Young's art for a few years now, and have wanted to get on his commission list for just as long, and I finally did it this year! I gave Ethan a few opponents to choose from for a "Karate Kid vs." commission, and he picked the monstrous Doomsday! I love how Doomsday just fills the piece with his massive body, and how scary he looks. I also really dig the motion effect with Val Armorr's foot and how he's actually damaging Doomsday by chipping away at his bone growths. I sent this one over to my buddy Simon Gough next, and he made it look even more incredible! After all of these years, Simon has mastered coloring Karate Kid in any style, and this commission is no exception. I love how Simon colored Doomsday, with various shades of grey, and his shorts really stand out as well. Anywho, I love this commission, and cannot thank Ethan and Simon enough for their artistic efforts!
I don't think Karate Kid can put away Doomsday permanently, because apparently no one can. But could Val keep Doomsday occupied long enough for his teammate Brainiac 5 to come up with some way to contain or banish the murderous creature? Yes, I do believe he could.
If you like this piece, then please do go buy some of Ethan's work for yourself.
