Rocketeer by Joe Johnston

After Dave Stevens, I don’t know that there’s any creator quite as influential on the history of the Rocketeer as director Joe Johnston. Early in his career he worked as a concept artist and effects technician on the Star Wars films with ILM before moving on to directing films like the Rocketeer and Captain America: First Avenger, so it’s amazing to see his pen and ink work.

I purchased this piece from special effect animator, Kevin Coffey, was responsible for animating the flame effects on the Rocketeer. This was obtained by Kevin over 30 years ago as a gift from Joe during production.
