Tillie the Toiler strip (January 25, 1930)

Tillie Jones was a flapper, executive secretary, and part-time fashion model in this strip that ran from 1921 to 1959. In this installment, she finds office competition from an ambitious blonde newcomer and doubtless will take action in tomorrow's strip. Note the old timey telephone on Mr. Whipple's desk, and Tillie's shadow in the final panel. All the characters have great body language throughout. Note how Mr. Whipple gradually turns his attention, sympathy, and his body toward the blonde. Is the blonde flashing her thigh, or is that just part of her dress?
