Description
Sadly, I was too late to arrive at the signing area at C2E2 last weekend to meet Mr. Brunetti, but I did manage to get a signed and remarqued copy of his book "Wordplay", which is targeted towards young readers. It has the familiar Brunetti graphical and cartoony look and feel to it, but it's rated G! Very different from all the other books I have by him, which center on adult themes and existential life crises. The man has range. In all of his works, he is clearly obsessed with the formal aspects of graphical storytelling, optimal pacing in pictures and words, delivering effective punchlines, etc.

Update: As luck would have it, I ran into the artist at a cocktail party a couple months later and we had a terrific conversation about art, comics, the creative process etc. Super fun to finally meet him!

Thanks for taking a look!

Congrats, Mike. Brunetti is one of the most underrated cartoonists of his generation--an odd thing to say about someone who draws New Yorker covers.

A cute little cartoon! I hope you managed to meet some collectors while you were at the show!

Gotta love the lines crossing for the right arm being raised.  It's a 3D look of a flat cartoon being used.

Nice observation!  It does compellingly indicate an arm reaching out of the page in a surprising way
