DescriptionGlamourpuss #19-May, 2011 "Salute to Rectangles" "Bikini Bottoms Biker Chick" splash and bio As risque as this page is, all the pinups in this issue have been censored by rectangles. However, more shocking and offensive than the art is the text that accompanies each image. After Cerebus concluded, Dave Sim wrote and illustrated 26 issues of Glamourpuss from 2008 - 2012. Fashioned in the style of a fashion magazine. From wiki: "Master graphic novelist Dave Sim - the creator of Cerebus - returns! Glamourpuss is three comic books in one: a parody of fashion magazines, a history of photorealism in comics (starting with Alex Raymond's Rip Kirby in 1946), and the strangest super-heroine comic book of all time!" Although this page is outside my normal scope of collecting interests, it was offered to me in an interesting trade deal so I took the opportunity to add a unique Dave Sim piece to my collection. Bikini Bottom? Why that's where Mr. Krabs lives. Bikini Bottom's Lawless biker gang, The Mild Ones was seen in season 4 in 2006 titled "Born to be Wild". No doubt an influence for Sim for this licentious backstory 2011 piece. Pretty hot fishnets to keep with the nautical theme.

Awesome, man! Got a strong Bolland vibe, which is of course a good thing. The indie master Sim doing his thing! Congrats!

Had no idea he ever worked in this style, and it's awesome! The term hosebag makes me laugh. Very cool!

I picked up this series when it first started. While the artwork was pretty, I have to admit that I had a hard time wrapping my head around the book. However, that didn't stop me from also picking up a page from it because of the art. This is an awesome piece - who doesn't love Bikini Bottoms Biker Chicks?

Not only did I not pick up or read this title, I was also completely unaware of Glamourpuss as a series. Looking at it now, it's probably not a series I would read (or try to wrap my head around), but I am not above picking up a nice (IMO) page of OA by Sim.
