Description
This page from Nova (Vol. 4) #11, released March 12, 2008, marks the arrival of Select Drax and Select Gamora on Kvch, the homeworld of the Technarchy. Both characters are infected with the transmode virus and are actively hunting Nova, who has traveled to Kvch in a last-ditch effort to stop the Phalanx from overrunning the galaxy.

At this point in the post-Annihilation storyline, Drax and Gamora have not yet crossed paths with the other future members of the Guardians of the Galaxy. That convergence occurs just a few issues later in Annihilation: Conquest #6.

This page is a strong example of the visual tone and storytelling style that would define Guardians of the Galaxy (Vol. 2). The same creative team behind this issue would go on to launch the modern Guardians of the Galaxy lineup, making this a key precursor to that era.

11x17 Marvel comic art board.

Wow! Great story. Love when pieces of personal significance find their way home with their truly devoted collectors. Congrats!

Thanks Nash. I am not sure if you had been following the posts, but I have tried collecting the main titles Annihilation through the Annihilators, by the artists working with Keith Giffen as well as Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. Its been quite an adventure in collecting. I placed focus on Rocket Raccoon and Groot, but also a large collection with Drax, Star-lord, and Gamora. Also, I kind of somehow created a Babel Spire collection along the way. The entire collection contains pencils by Andrea Di Vito, Timothy Green II, Mike Perkins, Sean Chen, Tom Raney, Paul Pelletier, Brad Walker, Wes Craig, Mahmud Asrar, and Miguel Sepulveda. It also contains First Groot with Star-lord, Second page Rocket Raccoon Star-lord, First page Drax and Star-lord, and 3rd page Gamora and Star-lord as well as first DPS with Gamora and Star-lord. Other important pieces are the first and second pieces with Groot sacrificing himself. On the first sacrifice piece Mantis, which precogs the name of Guardians of the Galaxy in Volume 2 before the team names themselves, is telling Rocket Racoon that they need to save the Galaxy. I still have one more important piece to post and a semi important piece down the road. Sorry for the long response, but I am excited beyond belief about what I have been able to put together for the Guardians of the Galaxy. Its hard to share whats all in the collection without a post like this though.

The movies before the movies. Probably what sucked me into reading all of it. Excited to meet Nova in theaters.

I am getting a large Marcia Brady vibe from this piece.

Someone's at Kvch beside you
Someone's kicking up ground
I've been chasing your art around
That you finally found

You and I will
Hunt Drax and Gamora
Page by Paul Pelletier
Line by line he'll make it all shine
Inks gonna take time

So if we just trust tomorrow
You know we're Guardians
Oh you know Magyar will lead us
Right where inks belong

KVCH is really beautiful this time of year. You really must try out the local cuisine as well. Their best dish is called CHKV... Or was it KHVC? No thats not right either. I think is was just straight up CH. Yep, that was it. Try out the CH. It is exquisite.

Giant gun, a sword, and two half naked homicidal maniacs. I mean that isn't that what Marvel art was all about lol. Thank you and I agree whole heartedly.

Really dig the transition fro panel 2 to 3 to 4!  Semi silhouettes standing strong, THEN the big splash reveal, followed by full silhouettes getting back to business!  Storytelling at it's finest!  Congrats!
