Description1977 was a prime year for me reading comics-- it was my own personal golden age-- I've wanted a John Calnan Batman page for a long time and when this one came up on CAF I jumped on it-- thanks Andrew! This one captures everything I like about Calnan's work-- sort of a cross between Irv Novick and Marshall Rogers. The Inks are by Vince Colletta who often gets a bad rap-- he brought it on this one.
This piece is an example of a commission I created for a client.

I think Calnan was a great artist and this is a terrific example of his work. And you're right - Colletta did an excellent job inking his pencils. A great Batman page!
