Unfinished UK Sci-fi / hero art - 1950s/60s (1)

Original artwork for a UK comic strip drawn in the 1950s or 60s. The artist is the Glaswegian illustrator Ian McIlHenny (1935-2005).

Interesting piece. Some of the panels are completed whereas others are sketchy. The bespectacled character in the last panel reminds me a bit of a Steve Ditko character. I did once work out what comic strip this was destined for (by finding other images of the character with the cigar) but unfortunately I've forgotten! Feel free to let me know if you know.

My scanner has also given the artwork a bluey hue which it does not have in real life.
