Description
Digital Commission from Mirage Studios legend Dan Berger, inspired by Konami's 1989 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles LCD electronic hand held game. Leonardo leaps bravely into a swarm of Mousers as a captive April O'Neil watches the action from inside "Shredder's Asylum." Much like vintage video game box art, Berger re-imagines a moment from the game and embellishes it for dramatic effect. In the game, Leonardo has three chances to survive the dangers of an underground tunnel with an endless swarm of enemies and the perils of the trap-laced subterranean waters to rescue April O'Neil from Shredder's Asylum, a brain-washing trap that is protected with a shatter-proof barrier that can only be broken by strategically-placed explosives. This is the only known TMNT game that received its own U. S. patent filing for "hand held video game with simulated rescue."
Also included under "Additional Images" are Dan's digital concept roughs and my own attempt to layer some digital colors onto Dan's incredible art.
