More Grail stuff here, in this amazing autobiographical cartoon by Gahan Wilson for Esquire. This one was mentioned in the biopic Born Dead and later in his New York Times obituary:

"One cartoon done years later speaks to his upbringing. A child is emerging from an alley, surrounded by bizarre creatures. Two adults on the sidewalk can see only the child. 'Here comes that Wilson boy — all alone as usual,' one says.

'And I wasn’t all alone,' Mr. Wilson says in the documentary, 'which was the joys of imagination.'

Note, too, that the dog seems to see what Wilson sees!

I've always loved Gahan Wilson's work. This is one of the cartoons that has stuck with me for years. What a great piece to own!
