Description

This is my most ambitious undertaking, and by doing so I round out my inventory with the third and important part of the DC Trinity. The last time I did a Wonder Woman piece was for my half-sister's sweet sixteen. This one, however, is a lot more busy. On 11 x 17 hand-trimmed Canson 98 lb. paper, I've etched out Diana in her element, the hidden paradise island of Themiscyra. It took me a while but I managed to get the proportions right on Wonder Woman, even to the point of applying 003 Micron to the armor. The background, however, is more challenging. Since the Amazons worship Athena, I put a statue of the goddess in the upper right, based upon the Athena Panthora. I've also strated roughing in Greek architecture and bridges to show how connected the civilization is to the island's natural state. Lastly, I've thrown in some Amazons on the left so that Diana doesn't look like she's on this island alone. I just have to make sure the background holds up. I haven't decided yet as to whether to put in a blue sky or an auburn sky, as I put Diana in my half-sister's sketch in front of a sunset. Again I don't want to repeat myself. Further, the sky will predetermine how to render the piece, which will take some research. My goal is to have this ready in time for Gotham Central's Summer Bash event. More as it develops.
