DescriptionMy first Carlos Pacheco piece of artwork that I acquired earlier this year. I was sad to hear of his passing (Nov 2022) and am long overdue to share his pencil work on this celebratory 100th issue of Excalibur (done on a simple piece of paper).The cover shows Pacheco’s initial sketch work and detailed character design for this wrap around cover. He features Excalibur’s team up at the time of Pete Wisdom, Lockheed, Wolfsbane, Shadowcat, Meggan, Nightcrawler, Captain Britain and Colossus. Most the the characters details, layout and design stay the same, except in the final published cover has Wolfsbane turning her head further away to be more in profile like the others. This issue has an ONSLAUGHT tie-in and focuses in on the XAVIER PROTOCOLS which were filed for how to properly take down any of the X-MEN if ever needed. Happy to be able to celebrate Pacheco’s beautiful artwork and share his pencils work on here. Social/Sharing |

The pretty much follows this prelim so this is where the imagination and creativity came together before the finer final finish.

R.I.P. Carlos. A -great- add, James, allowing us to see a key step in his process (while at the same time delighting in the pretty pictures :) ). This POV (with the camera -right there- as the wave of characters breaks around it) lends just the right Alex Ross flavor so that the readers feel the energy and excitement of Carlos' smooth, fluid style. And all those characters! Never mind the tie-in; there's your ONSLAUGHT right there, amirite? ;) Congrats on adding a piece by this awesome (and sincerely missed) talent, James!
