Description

"Pegasus soared through the sky very proudly, and he kept a close watch on his nest. For there was the mother of his three young colts and with her was the little baby Pegasus. Pegasus flew very close and the mother raised her wing so that he could see his little son." - Beethoven's Symphony No. 6, also known as "The Pastoral Symphony", is the fifth segment of Fantasia. James Bodrero worked as a character designer on the "Pastoral Symphony" and "Dance of the Hours" segments. Walt Disney knew Bodrero could really draw horses and so he asked him to storyboard large sections of the Pastoral sequence in Fantasia. This original was rendered in graphite and watercolor on art board of about 15" x 13". The piece contains a WDP stamp in the lower right indicating the art was originally sold through the Courvoisier Gallery program. The piece is framed to 25.5" x 23.75". The frame has an aperture of 13.5" x 11.5".
Published in "Pastoral from Walt Disney's Fantasia", Harper and Brothers, New York, 1940. ALSO found on the dust jacket and inside of "The Pastorale Symphony from Walt Disney's Fantasia." Published by D. Davis and Company Pty. Ltd. Sidney, 1940.
