DescriptionThe Fred Hembeck art market seems to be on the rise (just look at eBay prices if you don't believe me). As such, my back-burnered project goal of getting Fred to draw all the iterations of the Hulk on sketchcards is a ship that may have sailed. I have always been a fan of Fred's style and artwork and made it a goal to get some of his art in my early hobby days. It took me a few years before I found myself at a show that Fred was drawing and was thrilled to discover that he was drawing at a show in 2009. I pitched the idea of Fred drawing himself transforming into the Hulk and he was into the idea and he absolutely destroyed the idea (in a great way). I hope Fred's art puts a smile on your face - it always does for me!Social/Sharing |

What a great, fun idea and Fred did it justice.

Thank you. With Fred, I definitely wanted to come up with a fun idea - glad to hear that you think it hit the mark!

I've seen the green Hulk, the grey Hulk, and the red Hulk. But the bearded Hulk just may be my favorite! Great transformation drawing by Fred. Plus, how can you beat four sets of curlicues (if you count Hulk's elbows) on one piece? Absolute Hembeck classic!

This is three tiers of power in one! It takes you through his range of emotions as he's transforming and while drawing this piece. At first he's indifferent to the request and then he gets more impassioned as he goes along!

Thanks Marcus! I think you are right - when I pitched the idea, Fred's face went from puzzled to intrigued. Love what he came up with - inspired!

Ha ha, nice! Love that he made it a point to maintain the beard. Also thought it was weird that Red Hulk didn't maintain the 'stache :) Congrats, man!

yeah I liked that touch as well!
Red didn't keep the stache because the arc kept the identity of the Red Hulk a secret for a while and the stache would have been a dead giveaway

Yup, I think I read that. They always knew who it was going to be, right?

So now we know that Hembeck is able to turn out so many sketch cards on eBay because he's powered by gamma rays.

Lol - Don't make Fred angry, he's sketchy when he's angry (or maybe do make him angry). Thanks

Fun piece ! But reading your description raises the question why you didn't let the man draw YOU turning green - for your money ?!

Thanks Tommy! Not a bad idea and I may have even mulled that option, I guess I didn't find myself as the Hulk all that interesting, and certainly less than Fred.
