Karate Kid vs. Swamp Thing by Christian DiBari and Simon Gough

I think that I first saw Christian DiBari's art in Hoax Hunters, many years ago. It was impressive then, and it's even more so now. Christian has collaborated with my favorite colorist, Simon Gough, many times, so it's only natural that I wanted a commission collaboration from the two of them! I gave Christian a few opponents to choose from for a "Karate Kid vs." commission and he went with the Avatar of the Green himself, the Swamp Thing! Swampy started out as a horror character and Christian definitely brought back that vibe for this commission. Swamp Thing looks terrifying! Karate Kid looks a bit desperate here as he kicks through Swamp Thing's body while vines entangle him. Christian definitely gives this piece a desperate, frightening vibe, and I dig it! Next up, Simon Gough worked his coloring skills and showed us just how many shades of green that he is an expert at using! I love how Val pops off the piece and yet Swamp Thing still dominates it with his colors being much brighter than the background. Huge thanks to Christian and Simon for their excellent work!

How would this fight go? Well, not well for Val unless he has help. Karate Kid can demolish Swamp Thing's body as much as he wants, but Swampy can just grow a new one at any time. So he'll need to call in an assist from Brainiac 5 who can undoubtedly come up with a way to cut Alec Holland off from the Green, and that would make this much more of a fair fight.

That is one frightening looking Swamp Thing! Val should use his flight ring to get the heck out of there on the double.

The contrast really stands out. All that texture on Swamp Thing, as well as KK being out of his element and in his adversary's! Congrats!

Physical attacks aren't going to affect Sawmp Thing. Karate Kid needs to channel the Glow from within.
