All-Star Western #28 by Darwyn Cooke

Stunning All-Star Western cover starring Clint Eastw... I mean Jonah Hex. The last of four pieces I brought back from SDCC. I always wanted a Jonah Hex by Cooke. I would have been happy with just a sketch but never had the opportunity to get one. A cover is even better.

I've been eyeballing this one for a while now. Never the right time to buy it. I decided to bite the bullet and finally buy it @ SDCC. It's a beauty! Looks so great in person. Stoked to get this, not sure why I took so long.

Nice image of Jonah Hex with a clean unscarred face. For those that don't know, in the comic Jonah time traveled to modern times, where he gets into an auto accident. Thanks to modern medicine, the doctors reconstructed his face. By the end of the issue Jonah is transported back to the west.

Fistfull of fun! By modern standards, have must have been a bit too dirty and hairy. Cooke probably had fun drawing this one in homage to one of the westerns that influenced their approach to the Hex series.
