Description

Supergirl breaks a mad scientist out of prison in hopes that he will save the life of a sick boy. Instead, he uses science to augment himself and attack her. By the time Supergirl defeats him, the boy has died. The story recalls John Byrne's touching Fantastic Four tale "A Small Loss" in which Reed Richards tries to get Doctor Octopus to save the life of his unborn child.

On this page, Supergirl meets the scientist after having procured hair samples from the sick boy. Also present here and throughout the story is Resurrection Man. Every time he dies, he's reborn with a different super-power. During this story he gains the power of healing but doesn't have an opportunity to use it on the sick boy. Bummer.

Ray Snyder inked a blueline printout of Derek Johnson's pencils. The blocky blacks in this scene are not typical of the book as a whole.

Yeah, it looks like the Snyder inks took this over to make the figures defined mostly by shadows until the last image.  It fits the dark tone of the story.
