The original East Coast-West Coast rivalry with surfer boy not standing a chance. RIP to the crazy-brained chameleon.

Great piece with Giffen showing off poses and choreography on a pure artistic level.  You don't even need to see the costume to get a sense of the control he has for the human figure in this ballet of a battle.

"My thinking was influenced by that 70s black Namor costume and the helmet would have a hawkish shape. The wings pop out so it wouldn't look as dumb as Hawkman. I love [Joe Kubert] and he made anything work but since Darkhawk was an android battle suit I figured it could have different configurations." Artist Mike Manley recalled on social media"The hawk claw grapple also a weapon like Wolverine's claws made sense. Honestly, I wasn't about all the teen stuff I hoped to do more space stuff. Which we only touched on before I left for DC. If I revisited the character today I still have ideas."
