DescriptionPublished 1977Night Moves written by David Anthony Kraft, Roger Slifer and John Warner After tangling with Scorpio, Hellcat and Valkyrie head off to the Avengers mansion leaving Hulk and Nighthawk behind. Keith's passing is something that will take me awhile to digest. Of course those creators who worked with him closely knew him a lot better than I did. I had met a number of times at conventions but I know him primarily by the work he shared with us on the comic pages. To quote Glen Cadigan (writer of the Legion Companion) "The headlines are billing him as the co-creator of Rocket Raccoon, Lobo, and the most recent Blue Beetle, but he's most closely identified with The Legion of Super-Heroes or Ambush Bug." I could add Justice League International & L.E.G.I.O.N. '89. But even before that I 'knew' him from his work on the Defenders, Claw and Challengers of the Unknown and I am happy to have this representation of his early work. And now may Valkyrie and Hellcat escort him to the hallowed halls of Valhalla! The rest of my Giffen art can be found following this link. Social/Sharing |

Only Keith Giffen could make Valkyrie look like the pretty girl who lives next door. That hair and her lips are just so enticing. That, and the horse is magnificent. Beautiful page.

A sweet, early career page by Keith, with early career Klaus on inks. Very cool. I knew you'd do him proud! Rest in Peace, Keith!

I was a little too tall, couldn't lose a few pounds
Flight on horse, Valkyrie renowned
She was a Hell Cat beauty with big gap thigh
And points of her own, sittin' way up high
Way up firm inked lines
Out past the art deals where the wings got heavy
Ridin' the back seat of this '70 doozy
Janson ink mysteries with zip a tone too
Giffen on our Night Moves
Tryin' to make some splash page title new
Giffen on our Night Moves
In Defenders time
Umm, in the sweet Defenders line

Incredible title page. Almost thought it was from an earlier time when flipping quickly over it. A great piece from a memorable person in comics.
