DescriptionPublished 1990Inset panels. Text by Tom and Mary Bierbaum. Spider-Girl first appeared in Adventure 323 (1964) written by Jerry Siegel and drawn by John Forte and George Klein. She has the power to control her hair and she was rejected for Legion membership. She later joined the Legion of Super-Villains. She was captured by the Science Police and rehabilitated. After battling Mordru alongside the Legion, she became a member of the Legion. And yes, Spider-Girl did precede Marvel's Medusa who debuted in Fantastic Four 36 (1965) And they were both preceded in comics by the Strangling Witch who appeared only on the cover of Web of Mystery #26 (1954). And in Japanese folklore, there is the tale of Futakuchi-onna, a witch that has a hidden mouth behind her head which uses stands her hair as tentacles to feed itself. And, of course, Medusa was named after the Greek mythological character that had living snakes for hair. Social/Sharing |

Panels with the headshot
Swear you hit me like the Legion
I, I, I wasn't expecting
Who's who am I to tell fate where hair's supposed to go?
Web it
Gordon ink; choose right Giffen
See, we got a right to just love it the comic
You find art and keep it
'Cause it ain't every day you rehabilitate...
Oh, this is how it starts, Giffen does the art
It goes off like web spun, Spider girl is fun
Oh, Kieth could be the star, drawing pencil lines
Shining how we want, Spidergirl's the one

Very nice panels. They all are well done. The layout in the third panel communications the isolation of Spider-Girl in prison. The next panel is fun with the little character running away at an angle from Spider-Girl's hair. Plus the description - Miki droppin' some history!
