Description
Back in 2017, I commissioned Jerry Ordway to do a full figure Red Sonja at Terrificon in Connecticut. As much as I was thrilled with it, the piece begged to be colored. (See additional image) Not wanting to offend Jerry, I asked him if he would be OK with me asking Laura Martin to color the art. Not only was he OK with it, but he said that Laura had a great color pallette and that he wanted to see it when it was finished. Next year, at Heroes Con, Laura brought it to the show and I was blown away by how much she added to the piece. Even Jerry was thrilled with what she did. Well, you can see for yourself how amazing it turned out! Enjoy!

Great instinct to have it colored.  Beautiful work all around.

Okay, so typically I am NOT a fan of having black and white original line art colored. But in this case, primarily because the level of finish on the line art wasn't so high to begin with and because it was done in marker, this is one of those rare exceptions where the colors not only help, but they in fact grab your attention so much, due to their beauty, that you barely even notice the line art isn't as tight as you might hope it would be. In this case, the coloring actually improved and enhanced the line art itself! A fabulous piece, Steve, thanks for sharing it with everyone!

It's the colors behind her that elevate this piece by taking the handoff from where the ink lines end and creating what wasn't there.

That's sweet. She not just colored, but completed the piece in my opinion.

Nice Red Sonja!  I can see why you picked it as your CAF avatar!
