The book has been adapted and been illustrated many times, but to have it done in such a luxuritant and lavish manner is something else. To hold it in your hands and see peak Hamilton work makes the story come alive in a new way. Inspired work by Hamilton and Bryant which is also very inspiring to see.
Many thanks, Marcus! The artwork is exquisite and I could not have said it any better.
Such a loss for comic fasn that this project was never completed.
Many thanks! And, yes, I totally agree that it was such a shame that the project was never completed. So sad.
Wow, that's a stunning and beautifully crafted page with amazing details!
Many thanks, Dino! All his work on this series is really truly beautiful.
Hamilton's labor of love!
Many thanks, Rick! He is such a meticulous craftsman indeed.
Love the "panel" stuctures. The overall page design is wonderful and I love how it's decorated. The linework, of course, is exquisite.
Many thanks, Eric! And many thanks for picking out the wonderful elements of design as well.
Craig is such an incredible artist. How lush these brush strokes are. Congrats CAB! This is an INCREDIBLY beautiful page!
Many thanks, Nick! Now you know why I was so keen on your Aquaman page. Rest assured that it has gone to a good home.
Ever since he exploded onto the comics scene with his Aquaman mini-series, Hamilton has been one of the best pure illustrators working in comics, with a style that is very "romantic" and looks great on every project he gets involved with. This is a superb example of his work at its best!
Many thanks, Rubén! Yes, I don't usually use the word "exquisite", but that description of his work would not be far off the mark.
this is great! I bought quite a few pages from this project, back in the day, from Craig - also agree how sad it never got published. Craig appears to have produced some work for Hero Initiative of late, I hope he is healthier and productive-r!
Many thanks, Malcolm! As many including yourself have observed, it is indeed sad that such beautiful art never saw the light of day.
Beautiful detail. Love it!
Many thanks, Ian! It is a really exquisite piece of artwork indeed.
A stunning piece CAB! Congrats!
Many thanks as always, Hart! It is just so beautiful - the linework is exquisite.
The thimble and the acorn are nice stylized flourishes.
Who was the writer on this?
I'm afraid I don't know. It appears that Eclipse Books originally commissioned it but the project unfortunately fell through.
Craigh Hamilton excels in this type of art, besides his love for the character, with the grandiose layout. The top panel is incredible. I love all the details. Bryant did honor the pencils with his inks. Great collaboration. Another amazing pickup!
Many thanks, Ilia! You have a wonderful eye for art yourself!
