Great overall illustration quality. I can read into it that this author character is trying to capture the grisly realism and the romanticized version of the wild west.
Yes the genius of Hector Oesterheld was trying to revolutionize the concept of the hero with an anti-hero, he was looking for a new realism that was unprecedented for that era and he was doing it with Del Castillo's line with his shadowy hatching drawing in a style that was realistic and defined but romantic and nostalgic at the same time.
That last panel alone is worth the price of admission. Beautiful page from a great series!
