Description
The Penultimate page of Captain America (Volume #1 | 1968).

In Panel 1, we see Sharon Carter handing over the coin to Captain America.

Carter says, “Listen… Thanks for the memories, okay?”

For me, it is as if Carter is speaking to all the Marvel fans as the Marvel Universe heads to a period of uncertainty with “Heroes Reborn.”

Almost.  Almost.  C'mon Cap.  You're going to make us turn the page to see if you'll get that kiss, huh?

Thanks Marcus.

It's been a couple of decades so it would be a spoiler: No kiss. Just a salute. 😂

The editors blew it then.  Just like Wolvie was allowed to kill Sabertooth before Age of Apocalypse, it wouldn't have hurt to have them give in for their swan song before heading toward an event that would have changed continuity anyways.

It's been years since I've read it but the storyline felt rushed. Guess they didn't know that going into this arc--that it would be the last for Volume #1. It wasn't a great send off IMHO.

Thabks Marcus!
