Once again, huge props to Karl Kesel, who even this early on in his career was tasked with inking so many big name artists like Byrne and Pérez, and did a really good job on them. I was never a big Tuska fan, particularly his post Silver Age work, but Kesel did a great job strengthening the pencils here and having them look a lot more "updated" for the 80's. Oh, and good thing the White Witch didn't remain an old hag, because she looks really FUGLY like that!
I told White Witch Naltor
I was now banished too
I told White Witch Naltor
My life was over too
And then White Witch Naltor
She told me what to do
She said that
Ooo eee, It's Tuska ting tang
Gotta gotta, join gang
Ooo eee dilema ting tang
Gotta gotta join gang...
Ooo eee ,hag Mysa ting tang
Gotta gotta join gang
Ooo eee Evillo ting tang
Gotta gotta join gang
I told White Witch Naltor
You didn't love Mordru
I told White Witch Naltor
You didn't play so nice
And then Prince Evillo
He gave me this advice
He said that
Ooo eee, nooo nah nah ting tang
Ugla ugla, no bang
Ugly ooo la la ting tang
Gotta gotta join gang...
Ugly, ooo la la ting tang
Gotta gotta join gang
Ooo eee ooo la la ting tang
Gotta gotta join gang
Now
You've read Legion by Mindy
Just like when Paul's a writer
And I'll admit I wasn't very Blok
So I went out and found myself
Prince Evillo much wiser
And Karl taught me the way to ink your art.
When a guy with Satan horns named "Prince Evillo" asks you to join his gang, say, "No!" Nice work from Tuska though. This story came from the "place holder" year when the main Legion title had gone "direct market only," and reprints for spinner rack consumers (including me) came to this series a year later. This was an important transition period for distribution at Marvel and DC, as the news stand market withered out from under the publishers.
Nice!
