Description
Before Graff worked on X-9 he worked on this fun adventure strip which he helped create and which debuted on March 11, 1935. Graff left the strip n 1940 although the strip ran until 1955 under a few other artists. I like the artist's skill with duo-tone board which he took with him when he started on X-9 immediately after leaving this strip and where he would continue for the next 20 years. Graff also was the first artist on Puffy Pig in 1930 and continued on this strip until he started Patsy...Puffy Pig is memorable to me as Caniff took over the chores on this strip in 1933 around the same time he was working on Dickie Dare and just before developing Terry and the Pirates. I find all these intersections of artists and projects extremely interesting and it informs how I view and appreciate their work.

Jeff, this daily is from 1939.  A solid example of Graff's fine work.

Pretty smart to get on that Shirley Temple train with the girl actress storyline in the 30's!
