Description
This page I got strictly for the airplane artwork. From Enemy Ace to growing up with a father who loved airplanes the old biplanes had a certain grace and elegance to them.

From 1985 the back up story is Russel Leeds Ace of the Airways. Don't remember Crossfire having a back up story.

Dan Spiegle was never an "it" artist, but I enjoy his work on Crossfire - I feel like this was where he put in more effort then just doing his job. Dan's story telling was great. Like many artist of the prior generation they told the story and were not constantly doing beauty shots for the after market of their work as that market never existed.

This is a very nice example of Dan Spiegle's art.  I am a fan of his Blackhawk art.   Dan was a great draftsman.   Congrats!

Spiegle's drawing of an upside down bi-plane in perspective looks amazing!  Getting those wheels at the top done correct would have been hard even if photo referenced.
