DescriptionWow, here it is, I paid more for this page than any other in my collection (thanks underbidders!) and already saw some comments that it was crazy. BUT - that is this hobby! Sandman #23 is my favorite issue from the Season of Mists arc, the arc that really cemented Sandman as one of my favorite comics of my childhood. And this was my favorite page of the issue. I also own my 3rd favorite from the issue - the 2nd remains elusive. As Lucifer was my favorite of Neil's creations after Morpheus, the page is extra special. This was his time to shine. Looking forward to seeing these moments in Season 2 of Sandman on Netflix. Surely the First of the Fallen will be monologuing. While Season 1 struggled to find its' stride, the Sandman comic also didn't kick in until a bit later, so interested to see how the general public receives the series version. As a side note, and for discussion, I would like to use this platform to ask out loud where all the Malcolm Jones III pages are coming from? And what is the real story behind where they've been all these years? After his death, it is said that someone was able to acquire all the pages he had in his possession. True? It seems clear to me that the waves of pages appearing on Heritage are from Malcolm Jones III's batch, as they cross over different pencilers, and he, the inker, is the one constant. Maybe I am wrong but it feels that it's the case. As a longtime Sandman fan who has wondered about the status of those pages over the years, I would love to know the story, especially now that one of those pages will be hanging on my wall. Probably there are more to come. Also if anyone has a page from issue #18 - Dream of a Thousand Cats, they might be willing to part with, please let me know! Social/Sharing |

Great Lucifer page, also featuring Sandman, which each panel can be read and enjoyed by itself. Congrats!

I foolishly thought that I might win this one. My hat's off to you for managing to wrangle this in. It's brilliant!

Brilliant! One of the rare occasions where the writer confers more value to an item than the artist. But the Jones are no slouches.

Great page from IMO by far the greatest Sandman arc. Morpheus, Lucifer, the key.... few pages in the whole series are in the league of this one.

Feels like a full-circle moment in your collecting career. Way to stick around long enough for your #1 piece to show up...and congrats on doing what needed to be done!

This, to me, is a very key sequence. Great artist combination. Nice standalone dialogue. I can see why it had high bids, and think it's one of the best of the many recent pieces for sale. Congrats Jon.

High level Neil Gaiman writing pairing the comic medium with theology and references to literary themes of fate and man's own will. Jones and Jones! Many had to wait years to find their art.

Great piece, I am happy for you, and seeing great Sandman OA like this surface. Solid prices paid at auction like this should help more come to light! Interesting comments about Malcom Jones art. Hope all is well!

Hands down, one of the coolest pages from Sandman ever. Love this discussion between Lucifer and Morpheus, "Why do they blame me for all their little failings?" asks Lucifer. What a great line from one of the great comic books of the 1990's. One thing that makes it such a great page is, it's practically self-contained. This one page can stand alone. Anyway, I loved this book and I love this art. Beautifully simple artwork that makes a point. Kelly Jones and Malcolm Jones III kept it simple and that was perfect. Congratulations on a fabulous pick-up!
