DescriptionPublished 1979his Is the Day the Universe Dies! written by Jim Starlin and Paul Levitz Mon-El and Superboy attempt to stop creature known Omega This issue and the succeeding one that wraps ups the story was credited to Steve Apollo instead of Jim Starlin. Jim originally plotted and laid out the story to run in the DC Special series as a 64 page story. Then the DC Implosion happened and the DC Special series was cancelled. Paul Levitz was given the story and told to make it fit into two regular Legion issues which he did by reworking the plot and cutting out 22 pages. Starlin was not pleased with this and also he had laid out the pages to be inked by Joe Rubinstein who not available and was reportedly not pleased by Dave Hunts inks, so he asked for his name to be taken off the book and so the pseudonym 'Steve Apollo' was born. Apollo, Apollo who drew the breakdowns
Apollo, Apollo plot's changed all around
I love it, comics for a dollar you'll lose the blues with Apollo, so Special
The plot that DC Levitz Legion cut down
Jim hates this, they made this, Mon-El fights away
They do things that they don't Supes on a page
Dave Hunt the line, the line of their life
I saw a fan entranced what he writes as Apollo, Omega's fine beatdown

Ooh
Superboy shows me haunch
You know that Starlin's cool
I can't help myself
He wrote you for nobody else
Inks by Hunt on line (ink by Hunt my line)
You come Apollo (you come Apollo)
Leaving just your pictures behind
And said haunches a thousand times

I knew Starlin hadn't put his name on it but never knew why. Thanks for that write-up!

I think the artwork looks great, including the inking. It's a fantastic Legion page!
