Gual, Josep - George and Lynne "Mile High" from 2005-2006

The UK has a long tradition of pretty girl strips with lots of mild, gratuitous nudity. GEORGE AND LYNNE, which ran in the British daily newspaper THE SUN from 1976-2010, was one of the most popular such strips.

Written by Conrad Frost, it was drawn by John Burns until 1982, when it was taken over by Josep Gual, who drew the strip until its end in 2010.

George and Lynne are a suburban married couple who enjoy an easy life. The strip presents such uncomplicated lives without apology, but with lots of reference to sex and frequent partial nudity.

One critic attributed GEORGE AND LYNNE's enduring popularity to the fact that "they had the kind of married life every other couple in Britain wanted to have!"

Board size is 19 5/8" x 6 1/2" with an image area about 18 x 4 1/4".

This particular strip features Lynne (the blonde) and her friend, but no George.

Josep Gual Tutusaus, also known as Josep Gual or Jose Gual, is a comics artist from Barcelona, Spain, whose credits include BLACKJACK IN ACTION in the 1970's, THE FISTS OF DANNY PYKE and A BULLET FOR THE MARATHON MAN in EAGLE in the 1980s, an episode of Tharg's Future Shocks in 2000 AD, several stories for Warren Magazines' CREEPY and EERIE, and the 1982-2010 run on the newspaper strip GEORGE AND LYNNE.
