High caliber promo pin-up!
Didn't buy a lot of DC books back then. And the only reason I bought those Doom Patrol issues was because of Steve's art. Great piece that really shows off everything I loved about Lightle.
Stone cold classic from Lightle. I've never saw this image at the time but it would have sold the series to me without a doubt.
Happy Birthday and congrats! Love this!
To a huge Lightle fan like me throughout the 1980's, this is a very memorable house ad. So fantastic. The first 5 issues of the ongoing series were fabulous as well. This was an extremely fortuitous purchase, congrats!
Yes I will for sure always remember that purchase (and likely so will you ;)
Beauty.
I've become a late-blooming Lightle fan! Nice stuff!
Extraordinary work with blacks and whites!!!! I find it superb!
Some of the best Lightle covers are because he was able to use the solid black backgrounds to his advantage to focus on characters defined by the lighting. A classic spotlight composition with the heroes backed up to a wall.
This is fantastic! I assume you've probably owned it for a while. I don't see a lot of great Lightle art come up for sale these days.
Great cover!
Fabulous! IMHO, Steve Lightle was one of the best comic book artists of the '80s and one of the most underappreciated. This Doom Patrol promo is a classic example of his work. I love his use of light and shadow here. The team members are caught in a spotlight, which emphasizes the bullet-riddled wall behind them. I love the way Steve posed the fiigures, it gives you a real sense that they are cornered with nowhere to escape. It's a great example from a great artist. Fantastic pick-up, congrats!
I agree. This was a cover obviously. I wonder wat happened? I'm guessing issue 2.
I own a cover of his. Miss him.
