The Hembeck card art bug has no cure, excpet buying more Hembeck cards. Congrats - these are so much fun!
Has Dredd ever looked cuddlier?
Toddler Dredd is still bad -ass!
Great detail on this one! Sharp and Deadly - ready for court!
pads over the swirly knees!
Okay, so technically yes, the knee pads are covering them. But he's got a Captain Britain on his eBay page right now wearing knee-high boots with knee guards, and the swirly knees are drawn on top of them. I want my squiggles! LOL
Is it swirly knees or squiggles? Which is correct? Hero anatomical terminology not being my strong point.
Who the heck knows (besides Fred, that is). For the longest time, I thought it was an AT sign, like @. I honestly think that Fred should come up with an official name for it and then register it as a trademark. Then he could license it out and get paid every time someone uses it. Uh-oh, I hope someone doesn't read this and beat him to it.
An Urban legend ;)
Love this!
The law has spoken, Fredd's Dredd is Best! Court's adjourned!
Judge Dredd does seem like a surprise character, but man did Fred give him the super-duper Hembeck treatment. Absolutely love this!
Hembeck makes every character just plain fun! Love it.
Delightful! Interesting choice to show Dredd flexing his fingers empty handed rather than toting a hand cannon. Long ago, Hembeck often included elbow squiggles to match the knees, but he dropped them at some point. Are we witnessing the disappearance of his knee squiggles going forward? Super fun take on Dredd, and goes so nicely with your other Hembecks!
Elbow squiggles????? No way! How does that even work? If the character is facing you, the elbows aren't visible. Oh wait, maybe that's why he dropped them. Man, would love to see an elbow squiggle. If anyone out there has an example of this, shoot me a pic or a link. Would love to see it. Anyway, thanks for the comment pal.
I can't be more cool!!! One of my all time favourite characters. That's very nice!
These are so fun and there are always so many coming out of the machine that is Hembeck, so they ae both generally affordable and collectible.
Thanks buddy! Yeah, it would be easy enough to just see him as a machine that's only cranking these things out for money. But I see him as a true artist who in a way is providing a service to the hobby by creating collectible artwork that is both affordable and enjoyable. I hear more and more these days from people who feel that they are just getting priced out of the hobby (myself among them). But as long as there are people like Fred around, we can all continue to participate without ending up in the poorhouse.
The Dread of Ian and Bolland so damn serious. Love that. For the sake of levity, FH comes along with his Dredd and put's a smile on my face:-) Its for the precise reason you mentioned that I DON'T own a Hembeck, or buy Ruffles potato chips anymore. 1 just won't cut it. Which one character would I have him do? Spidey? Natch. Then I think Hulk, Cap, Wolverine..... I can't decide. Then I say let me check my pal's gallery and see what's cooking. DREDD !!!!!! Impossibly satisfying take by FH, Congrats!
Thanks buddy! And I totally get where you're coming from. If I did a Hembeck wantlist (and could actually afford to maintain it), Fred would probably only be working on my pieces for the rest of his days. LOL! So the only way I figured on how to avoid that is to just check his auctions week to week and allow myself to be caught off guard or surprised by a character I never expected, or one I couldn't imagine him doing (like this one). But it's still a tricky proposition, since nothing seems to be off limits and there's apparently no character that he can't draw. Yeah, potato chips would be easier. But at least Fred's art isn't bad for my BP and cholesterol. LOL!
This is such a fun piece of artwork! I love how Fred took a grim character and created such an adorable version! Congratulations on this one as well as your entire collection of feel-good Hembeck gems!
another perfect card, and rare to see done by fred
