There’s always a subconscious chuckle that I have to suppress when I see a Bagley piece. I was one of the many who snickered at the Marvel Try Out Book contest when it launched back in the early 80’s. All I could think of was, how desperate must Marvel (and Jim Shooter) be? So when Mark won it, I found it difficult to take him seriously in any way. Especially after he ended up being the regular artist on my favorite character. But with a career spanning over four decades, Mark has more than proven that he was no joke. Congrats on this great Spidey piece. Just a bit skeptical about it not costing an arm and a leg. From what I've seen, Bagley's stuff is not exactly cheap.
Many thanks, Eric. As they say, hindsight is 20-20 vision. I totally understand your sentiments because I wasn't into Bagley initially but his artwork gradually grew on me. And, yes, I am not kidding - it wasn't extremely cheap to be sure but the price was in fact very reasonable, in my view.

I think Bagley is right up there as an all time definitve Spider-Man artist. Multiple titles, longevity, launched the Ultimate Universe, left and came back without missing a beat. This looks like a culmination of his experience with hints of this runs on ASM and USM that Hanna brings together.

Beautiful Spidey from Bagley! This one captures the less-packed suit webbing of his Ultimate era, and the web offers an in-your-face appeal that is as good as any city skyline background. Congrats on the new addition!

An absolutely fantastic image and it really does my heart some good to hear that it was affordable! Not only is Bagley an all-time definitive Spider-Man artist, he is one of the all-time most important Spider-Man artists due to the combination of quality and longevity on the character. He is unquestionably on the Mount Rushmore of important Spider-Man artists, most likely alongside Ditko, Romita and McFarlane. Congrats on finally coming around to his version of the wall crawler, CAB!
