Description
Here is a special treat, a complete backup story by Fred Hembeck for the original TMNT series from 1984. The book was so succesful that they right away had to reprint issue 2 and this story was added. Now you all know the origin story of the Turtles. I showed this artwork to Kevin Eastman at one of the conventions and he loved it. Hope you all enjoy it just as much.

That's amazing! A complete story with art by Fred Hembeck. With all the illustrations and sketches, I never saw a published complete story. Congrats

Great reminder of the how wild and out there the turtles were back in the day!  Hembeck's distinctive artistic voice probably gave them the idea that TMNT could be for all ages.

So little published Hembeck art has ever been seen out on the open market, so to get a complete story from the mid 80's about a property that became a worldwide phenomena? Incredible!

WOW I never expected to ever see this. I've collected the entire Mirage run complete, including the 2nd and further printings of each issue. This was such a fun backup story - thanks for sharing

Wow, this is a unicorn, isn't it!? I wish there was more serial work by Fred. Great stuff!
