Description

Here's another of our purchases from last weekend's Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention. By artist Harold McCauley, it illustrated "The Mental Assassins" by Rog Phillips (writing as Gregg Conrad) and ran in the May 1950 issue of Fantastic Adventures.

Great effects achieved over that textured base. McCauley is proficient in both the heavenly fantasy and the more solid gritty street violence.

I love her angelic face contrasting against a fight scene. Her facial expression is just perfect. Love it!

A friend of mine suggested it might be film actress Elizabeth Allan, a British expatriate who worked in Hollywood during the 1930s, but that's just a guess.
