Here’s a gorgeous and splashy Frank Thorne washtone page from a terrific Savage Sword of Conan Red Sonja story.

Thorne is one of those artists that I enjoyed as a kid but did not fully appreciate until much later. Excellent draftsmanship, storytelling, and an imaginative sense of design. (Plus he lettered his own stuff whenever possible.)

And, of course, beautiful women. That part was always obvious.

I acquired this page earlier this year (2024) at OAX. Paid too much for it.

But not sorry about it.

Thorne's Red Sonja was Too Hot to handle for a kid! This is a prized page from the magazine! In the mid 70's, this would have been the adventurous sex symbol of the day with Raquel Welch in a bikini!
