Jade by Caio Marcus & Jay Leisten

This commission… Actually, it’s two commissions, but that will become clear in a moment. Back on November 10 of 2017 I contacted Caio Marcus for a pencil commission. He accepted, and on the 20th, I received an email from Caio with these two concepts sketched out, asking me which I might prefer. A difficult decision, and unfair, having to choose just one! After a few exchanges, we decided on version “B”. On December 26th I received the best Boxing Day gift ever - when the scan of the completed pencil art dropped into my inbox! Caio assured me Jade would be on her way at the start of the New Year.

So I waited. And waited. And waited. And... nothing! We each tried to follow up on the matter, without success. What happened is what every collector dreads - Jade had gone missing in transit!

It took me until December 2023 to realise that I might still have a piece of physical art if I could find an inker willing to work over a blue line of the digital image, as it was fortunate that Caio had made a very high resolution scan. After making a few inquiries, Jay Leisten agreed, and produced this gorgeous piece of art.
