Love this!
Krenkel's sketches have that raw energy to them! The way he pencils a prelim is a lot more refined than what he designs in sketches and clearly shows direction and mood of the drawing.
This is pretty awesome Mark; very cool piece!
A lot of collectors said "Sure, Mark Howland is one of the good guys of our hobby, but there's no way he'll ever own any Abominable Snowman art by Roy Krenkel, which is just a myth."
Yeti does now.
Acquiring Bigfoot art of this stature is no small feat, it's a big hairy deal- congrats!
Hah! So sayeth the Yeti Master!
Ha! No missed opportunities in this comment. Great RGK pencil piece, by the way!
Very cool prelim for a Roy Krenkel story in Creepy Magazine. It's always interesting to see the penciled prelims for art, they tell you a lot about the individual artist's process and how tight or loose they prefered to work before doing the final pencils and inks. This prelim suggests Krenkel liked working really tight, which means that the final pencils would be even tighter. It's interesting to me because I've seen a lot of pencils and some artists liked to be much looser than this, relying on their inkers to fill in what they only roughly sketch in. Clearly Krenkel was not one of those artists. Great pick-up, congrats!
