Star Wars #70 Variant Cover (Cover C) Prelim

It's Revenge of The Sixth and I guess I do have a Sith! Emperor Palpatine himself!

This is a preliminary drawing (in the "Greatest Moments" line of covers, cover 22 of 36, featuring scene between Vader and Palpatine from Return Of The Jedi) to issue 70 from the 75 issue Star Wars run from Marvel which started in 2015 and ended in 2019, done by Walt Simonson as part of his creative process to render the final cover.

My assumption is he worked out Darth Vader in a separate prelim sketch, but you can see the final cover inks and final published cover in the additional images section above.

Thanks to Jeff Wedding who let me pry this out of his collection awhile back for a very reasonable price! I never owned any piece by Walt until this one, and to have something Star Wars related is pretty sweet.

A very cool and cheap way to get original Simonson art. That it's done for a Star Wars cover is even better!
