DescriptionOriginal cover art from Johnny Bruck (* March 22, 1921; † October 6, 1995).Gouache on illustration board. Size roughly 14 x 20 in. Cover of German Atlan episode #56, published under the title 'Der schwarze Asteroid' (The Black Asteroid) in 1972. Atlan da Gonozal is a main character of the Perry Rhodan series. Given the character was very popular, it was given its own series within the Perry Rhodan universe starting 1969. It was quite successful and the last edition #850 was published in 1988. Great crossover of genres! Even though sci-fi automatons were taking the lead, the frontier adventures remained popular in European countries. This would pull in different audiences together!
