Description

Earlier today, my wife and I attended an auction in Chicago. Among the lots were several items that used to be in the collection of Forrest J. Ackerman, who had sold them to the consignor back in 2004. We managed to win several pieces of art, including this Hannes Bok illustration. It appeared in the December 1939 issue of Weird Tales, illustrating "Nymph of Darkness" by C.L. Moore and Ackerman, which featured Moore's well-known hero, Northwest Smith.
Bok illustrated two stories in the December 1939 issue of Weird Tales (as well as providing the cover) which was his first professionally published work.
