I remember not being such a fan either, but I also remember that Larsen was somewhat hurt by the negative reviews - the Savage Dragon look and feel not translating so well into the Marvel universe - but if their was a book that could make it work it would be Defenders - and it can be appreciated as pure artistic expression and in that light it works in its own right.

Sounds like there were just too many plusses to ignore.  Glad that Larsen picked Val to be the star of this cover.  Also love that there are two generations of rosters featured.  Still in search of my Larsen example.  Thanks for reminding, and inspiring, me.
