Description

In honor of Spider-Man 2’s (2004) 20th anniversary, I came up with the idea of paying tribute to both the film and artist that have drawn Spider-Man over the years.

One of the most memorable parts of Spider-Man 2 was the opening title sequence drawn by Alex Ross. At one point, we see Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man with a half-mask design; instead of the typical down the middle cut, it’s a diagonal cut, which really stood out.

The other part is when I was a kid, I’d always wonder who drew the art work in the comics; all I had going off of was a name and no face.

Finally, it also goes to show that anyone can wear the mask.

A style that is right up Jae Lee's modern sensibilities. I don't think he worked this way in 2004, but the shadows were always in his artistic DNA.
