Description3.5 x 3.5", 1971. Published in Comic And Crypt fanzine. Alan Hanley (1939-1980) was one of the best-known amateur fanzine artists of the 60s-70s, and the two things he loved most were the (Fawcett) Marvel Family characters, and the Golden and Silver Age characters created by Jack Kirby. Here we have Hanley paying tribute to Simon & Kirby's (1940s) The Sandman.Social/Sharing |

There's no denying that Jack Kirby of the 40's had heroes that made a mark in the youth of that era. Some 30 years later, people were still inspired enough to pay tribute to him in this fashion. It must have meant the world to the King knowing his work did not go wasted and helped raise a generation preaching heroic ideals.
