DescriptionThis is it! The first encounter between Batroc and Captain America!! Definitely a historic page because of it being the first time they face each other, but there are also so many great aspects to this page! I love the first 3 panels showing Steve going into an alleyway to switch into his Captain America costume. I love the way Cap lunges at Batroc in the 4th panel, while Batroc is trying to take the package away from Sharon Carter (who also makes her first appearance in this issue)! On top of that, it's a twice-up page, which is always awesome, plus you can see some notes on the borders of the page, as is common in a lot of these early TOS pages, so it's a total home run for my Cap collection!!!Social/Sharing |

The best part of the page (besides Cap and Batroc) is Steve's hat in that first panel. Congrats on the sweet page!

Classic Stan Lee dialogue and notes! The Marvel method in full bloom as the Kirby staging and power comes through with Ayers and Taraglione finishes! Batroc's flip is pure joy to see him rebuff Cap like Blanka in Street Fighter II.

Great page with classic Kirby layouts--the middle panel, the action of the bottom left, and Batroc's theatrical bow in the final panel are all Kirby through and through. And just pointing out, those notes around the panels are from Jack himself--describing how he intended the story to be told on the page, before Stan dialogued it. So even though Jack didn't do full art-duties here, it's very much a Kirby page. Congrats!

A truly wonderful looking page. I would never have guessed it, but the Ayers/Tartaglione pairing produced a really nice finished look. The finished line is so beautiful!

I know the horizontal middle panel is all that, but I just love that second panel. Congratulations!

Jawdropping Jack Kirby Tales of Suspense page! Everything about this Captain America page is top flight! You've got Steve Rogers on the street hearing a cry for help. He changes into his Captain America uniform and leaps into battle to protect a young woman. Her assailant does a fancy kick to knock Cap off his feet, then stops and bows and introduces himself. Now THAT'S the way a comic book should work. Nobody ever did it quite as well as Jack Kirby. What a wonderful pick-up, congratulations, Alberto!

This is indeed a home run! What a great page by the King, made even more special by the debut of Batroc. Probably the best panel page in your amazing Cap collection, and that's saying a lot!
