DescriptionThis is a huge addition to my collection. One being the Showcase Title is to me a screenshot of the 90's. But the Showcase Title goes back to the 1950's if you want to be totally accurate. Showcase '93 was the first series under that title since 1978 I believe. Most people who were young like me in the 90's had at least one book of the Showcase '93 or '94 run. The other reason it is a huge addition for me is because this page is inked by the legend Dick Giordano. This is the only page I own as of this post that was inked by Giordano. All I have is a pencil sketch done by him. So yes, this is his inks. Now to the actual content of the page. I got Commissioner Gordon, Sergeant Bullock and the Bat Signal. Outside of showing Batman himself these are Titans and representatives of Gotham City as a whole. And the notes from Dwyer to Giordano regarding the drawing of the bat signal. Plus the lettering by Ken Bruzenak being done on the actual page makes this a true throwback. It looks like he whited out the art inside the word bubble. I don't know the technique cause it doesn't feel like white out. But you see the subtle lines so maybe just erased the pencils and that it wasn't inked. But you do see the shadow of the pencils which is soo kool. Social/Sharing |

Everyone was on board with Showcase in the 90's as Batman movies and BTAS dominated. DC comics had to add more Bat titles! The anthology nature allowed for an influx of talent to make their mark on Batman. Gordon and Bullock were made even more famous, but I think people caught on that Gotham itself was a a big star. Look at that retro cityscape!
