Description
Love Wild and Fair

Gouache on Board

9 1/4" x 15 1/2"

Cover art for the novel Love Wild and Fair (1978) by Beatrice Small, an award winning, New York Times best-selling historical romance author.

I have admired Robert McGinnis's art for decades now, starting in the 60's with his James Bond poster art. At the time - as a young child - I had no idea who the artist was ... just knew I found the art dynamic. As I learned more about McGinnis my appreciation grew, and I was quite happy this year to acquire my first piece by him.

Thank you. I had tried a few times at auction to get a McGinnis, but kept coming up short. This year's Windy City show made it a bit easier though, buying direct from an art dealer & fellow collector (thanks John).

When I first saw the piece I actually thought it had been done for the movie Camelot; the image is very reminiscent of the scene where King Arthur/Richard Harris meets Guenevere/Vanessa Redgrave for the first time.

Awesome piece Ingrid! This seems much softer than the more Noir-style of other RM covers.
